The National Football League is ending its rule allowing pass interference to be reviewable by instant replay after only one season.

League officials confirmed on Thursday that the rules committee is moving to let the rule expire by not renewing it.

The rule was ratified after a visibly blown call in the 2018 NFC Championship Game cost the New Orleans Saints a spot in the Super Bowl, but was not popular once in place after a total of 98 reviews with 75 being upheld and only 23 reversed.

A replacement option proposed by the Ravens and Chargers would have the rule replaced with an extra officiating crew member in the press box acting as a sky judge with the power to overturn blown calls.
