A policy that has given the academic side of Louisiana State more than $66 million from the athletic department is being re-evaluated by the school's new athletic director.
Scott Woodward is looking to address the fund-transfer policy which saw $36 million over five years, plus a portion of the department's surplus, sent from the athletic department to support the school's academic, research, public service, and other missions.
The policy, which was enacted under Joe Alleva in 2012, was developed after the state cut funding to the school.
The state's appropriation for higher education was slashed by about 60 percent under former Governor Bobby Jindal from 2008 to 2016.
