Report: Joe Alleva Could Be Out As LSU Athletic Director

LSU's Joe Alleva could step down from athletic director as early as today, according to the Baton Rouge Business Report, which cited a high-ranking official in the LSU System.

The report added that LSU officials refused to comment.

Alleva has come under fire most recently for how the department handled the suspension of men's basketball coach Will Wade after Yahoo Sports reported Wade was caught on a FBI wiretap during a recruiting investigation.

More on Alleva's possible departure from Baton Rouge Business Report:

While details of Alleva’s expected departure remain murky, sources say a deal is in the works to replace him with a nationally recognized leader in university athletics. That announcement is also expected in the coming days.
