Tremont Waters made a layup with 1.6 seconds remaining to lift third-seeded LSU to a 69-67 win over sixth-seeded Maryland in the NCAA Tournament in Jacksonville.
Waters finished with 12 points. Skylar Mays led the Tigers with 16 points, who advanced to the Sweet 16.
Jalen Smith scored 15 points for Maryland. Bruno Fernando added a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds for the Terrapins, who finish the season 23-11.
LSU will face Michigan State Friday in the Sweet Sixteen.
